Motorcyclist in Aberdeenshire clocked doing 137mph

A motorcyclist has been charged after being clocked doing 137mph - almost twice the speed limit - in Aberdeenshire.

The 46-year-old man was riding on the 70mph limit A96 between Blackburn and Kintore at about 2pm on Wednesday, police said.

He has been charged over the alleged dangerous driving offence, prompting officers to warn about the risks of speeding, particularly during bad weather.

Sergeant Steve Manson said: "The speed limit is not a target and when the conditions are poor you should reduce your speed."

The man is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.
