Murder investigation into Paisley death

A man has been killed in a violent attack in a Paisley flat.

Stephen Wallace, 46, was found dead in a property in Williamsburgh Court in Lacy Street at around 10.50am on Sunday.

Police have launched a murder investigation and are trying to chart Mr Wallace's movements over the last few weeks.

Detective Chief Inspector Maxine Martin said: "Stephen was found with injuries consistent with a violent attack and extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened to him and who is responsible.

"The response from the local community has been extremely positive and this is assisting us to piece together Stephen's movements over the past few weeks.

"I would appeal to anyone who knows Stephen, if you have seen or spoken to him recently, to please contact police.

"I'm also keen to speak to anyone who may have heard any disturbances or noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Williamsburgh Court to please get in touch.

"Your information could prove vital in helping us to establish exactly what happened to Stephen and identify the person or persons responsible for his death.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team (West) via telephone number 101, quoting incident number 1455 of Sunday 4 March 2018.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."
