William and Kate to meet stars from Sweden's cultural life

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet Swedish stars from the worlds of movies, the arts, sport and television at a glittering reception celebrating the Nordic country's cultural life.

William and Kate, who are on a four-day tour of Sweden and Norway, will meet the leading figures at the Fotografiska Gallery in Stockholm on Wednesday evening, and before the event begins will view an exhibition by UK photographer Nick Veasey.

During their second day in Stockholm the royal couple will spend much of their time with Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel and visit a department store to open an interactive exhibition of UK design, fashion and brands that operate in Sweden.

At Matteusskolan, a comprehensive in the city centre, the duke and duchess will join children who have taken part in the Youth Aware of Mental Health programme run by the National Association for Suicide Research and Prevention of Mental Ill Health.

The initiative is aimed at 14 to 16-year-olds and teaches the teenagers about mental health issue through discussion and role-playing, and now operates internationally including in the UK.

The royal party will also visit the Karolinska Institute, a major medical academic research centre, to meet leading scientific researchers and practitioners to discuss groundbreaking academic work in developmental psychology, and Sweden's approach to managing mental health challenges.
