Donald Trump causes furore as he claims US needs 'good old Global Warming'

Donald Trump has caused outrage after he called for some "good old Global Warming".

The US President, who has previously dismissed global harming as a hoax, referenced the cold weather on a Twitter post.

He wrote: "In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year's Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!"

The US's east coast is experiencing poor weather conditions, with Washington DC expected to reach -11c on New Year's Eve.

Trump has previously claimed Global Warming was a hoax created by the Chinese to steal American jobs and often confuses climate and weather as the same thing.

His tweet also alluded to what he claims the cost would be to the taxpayer to take part in the Paris Climate Accord, which he announced the US would withdraw from earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Trump has been smugly avoiding the cold weather by spending the Christmas period down in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, where temperatures are currently a balmy 24c.
