Tom Baker returns to Doctor Who for unfinished episode

Updated

Tom Baker is returning to Doctor Who to finish a lost episode of the show from 38 years ago.

The veteran actor, 83, has filmed a scene on camera for the unfinished 'Shaha', which was set in Cambridge.

Baker was forced to abandon filming the episode in 1979 due to a BBC strike, with around seven hours completed.

BBC Worldwide have dug out the original scripts written by Douglas Adams to complete the episode using animation, voiced by the original actors.

However, it will include footage of Baker as he is today, filmed using 1970s cameras.

Baker told the BBC: "I think it never left me and that's why I can't stay away from it. It was a lovely time of my life. I loved doing Doctor Who because it was life to me. My real life was really rather drab compared with the life of Doctor Who when we were making it."

Baker stepped down from the role in 1981 after seven years and was followed by Peter Davison.
