David Cassidy battling liver and kidney failure

Singer and actor David Cassidy is in critical condition in hospital with organ failure.

The Partridge Family star, 67. is in intensive care in a Fort Lauderdale, Florida hospital.

Cassidy had been in a medically-induced coma, but has been conscious since Saturday and is surrounded by family members.

The '70s heart-throb has admitted battling alcoholism in the past and has spent time in rehab.

Earlier this year, Cassidy told American magazine People that he was suffering from dementia.
