Man charged with murder after fatal shooting at house

A man has been charged with the murder of a father-of-two who was shot dead at a house.

Matthew Moseley, 49, from Oswaldtwistle, has been charged with the murder of Lee Holt, 32, who died after being shot in the chest last Wednesday.

Lancashire Police said Moseley, of Barnard Close, had been remanded in custody to appear at Blackburn Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.

A 14-year-old boy who was initially arrested on suspicion of murder was previously bailed to November 22.

Mr Holt, from Accrington, was shot at the front door of the house in Barnard Close at about 8.25pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital but died a short time later.

It is believed Mr Holt, who painted road markings for a local firm, had been visiting the address to discuss bullying allegations between children at a local school.

Moseley was arrested on Thursday but released by police on Saturday, before being re-arrested following further inquiries.

In a statement released after his death, Mr Holt's family said: "He has two beautiful children, Alecia aged 12 and Kiera-Leigh aged eight, who were his entire world.

"Family was his life. He has left the love of his life Kate in the most traumatic way imaginable.

"We hope to draw from the courage and strength he showed in his life to get through this extremely difficult time."
