Tom Petty, 66, dies following cardiac arrest
American musician Tom Petty has died at the age of 66.
The rocker collapsed at his Malibu, California home on Monday following a cardiac arrest.
He was rushed to hospital, but passed away later that evening.
His manager Tony Dimitriades said: "He died peacefully at 20:40 Pacific time (03:40 GMT Tuesday) surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends."
Petty was the frontman of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and enjoyed a string of hits, including American Girl, Breakdown, Free Fallin' and Learning to Fly.
