Signal issue shuts platforms at London Waterloo after week of delays

Services to the UK's busiest railway station have been disrupted again, ending a week of delays despite the completion of multi-million pound engineering works.

South Western Railway services to and from London Waterloo were hit by a signalling problem which closed three platforms on Friday morning.

Some trains terminated before London Waterloo, while Salisbury to London services only ran to Basingstoke.

Network Rail completed one of the "largest and most complex" upgrades in Waterloo's history on Tuesday after almost a month of engineering work to increase capacity.

Services were delayed on Tuesday despite the completion of the work, and there have been problems every day since then.
