Aldi launches low-calorie wine range

Aldi has hit the headlines plenty of times recently, all thanks to its unrivalled alcoholic drinks selection.

The discount retailer has already won 138 awards this year and they've just release their latest offering in the wine category.

They have launched the 'Featherweight' wines selection which, at £2.99 per bottle, carries a calorie count of just 52-57 per glass.

The range includes white Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigios as well as a red Merlot and a rose Zinfandel.

Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi UK, said: "We have seen over the last year a real appetite from wine drinkers in the UK for lower calorie and ABV wines to moderate their alcohol intake.

"At Aldi we ensure that we are offering our customers the products they want and so have introduced our Featherweight wines as a lighter choice for our shoppers."

The supermarket's recent accolades included two gold and eleven silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine and Spirits Challenge.

Meanwhile the Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin nabbed a silver medal at the Spirits Gin Masters competition as well.

Sadly not all the new wines are available across the country, with the Merlot being the only one stocked nationwide.
