Disney sued for reportedly tracking children through mobile games

Disney is facing a lawsuit for allegedly violating privacy laws by illegally tracking and collecting children's personal information and activity through its mobile games.

Amanda Rushing filed the lawsuit on behalf of her daughter who claims she was tracked while using the Disney Princess Palace Pets app.

Rushing accuses the company of violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

The Act states developers of kids apps and third-party advertisers are required to obtain a parental consent before collecting information from children under the age of 13.

Rushing claims not only that app but several others including the popular Disney Crossy Road, Where's the Water, and Club Penguin Island allegedly use the same ad-tracking software.

The data collected is then sold to third-party companies for ad-targeting purposes.

Disney has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
