Waitress receives racist note instead of tip
Controversy has erupted over a racist message that was allegedly written on a restaurant receipt in Virginia, USA.
The incident is said to have occurred on 7 January at an establishment called Anita's in the town of Ashburn.

An image of the receipt posted online shows a line drawn through the tip section and a message at the bottom stating: 'Great service, don't tip black people'.
In an interview with NBC for Kelly Carter the African American waitress who served the customer said it was just total shock.
She also added: "I looked at the receipt three times, that's what I did because I've never, never being a server, seen that."
Meanwhile the restaurant owner Tom Taya said: "I was appalled, although it's kind of in line with the political landscape unfortunately."

The image of the receipt was Tweeted by the Ladoun branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) along with the caption: "Hatred will not be tolerated and we will not keep quiet. This has been confirmed and did happen per Mgr @ Anita's in Ashburn", as seen above.
A crowdfunding campaign has since been launched to benefit Carter.
