These pictures of the first snow in the Sahara for almost 40 years are stunningly beautiful
A photographer has captured stunning images of the first snow in the sahara desert for 37 years.
The photos, taken by photographer Karim Bouchetata in Ain Sefra, Algeria, show the sand dunes covered with a dusting of snow which Bouchetata says lasted for a day.
It last snowed in Ain Sefra, known as 'The Gateway to the Desert', in 1979.
The town's Facebook page also shared photos of the snowfall in the town itself, where the snow stuck to the ground a little more uniformly than the beautiful shapes it made in the sand.
