Controversial photographer David Hamilton found dead after rape allegations

The British art photographer David Hamilton, who inspired both outrage and praise for his images of nude young girls, has died in France aged 83.

According to French officials he was found in cardiac arrest at his Paris home on Friday night and emergency services were unable to revive him, however there were also reports that he took his own life.

Hamilton was recently accused of raping a 13-year-old muse in the 1980s and faced further allegations of historical abuse relating to several of his underage models.

The photographer, who had lived in France for decades, strongly denied the allegations and threatened to sue for defamation.
