Cabinet's Justine Greening reveals 'I'm in a happy same sex relationship'

International Development Secretary Justine Greening has used gay pride day to announce she is in a same sex relationship.

The Cabinet minister insisted it was a "good day" to speak about her private life.

Ms Greening tweeted: "Today's a good day to say I'm in a happy same sex relationship, I campaigned for Stronger In but sometimes you're better off out! #Pride2016"

The former transport secretary has been MP for Putney in London since 2005.

Ms Greening, 47, follows Scottish Secretary David Mundell who came out as gay in January when he announced on his website it was time to "acknowledge in public, as well as in private, who I am".

Mr Mundell posted: "New Year, new start! I have already set out my political priorities for the year and now I am setting out my personal one.

"Having taken one of the most important decisions of my life and resolved to come out as gay in 2016, I just want to get on with it, and now, just like that, I have said it."
