Firefighters rescue parachutists who got stuck on a phone mast

You would assume that the hardest part about parachuting would be jumping out of the plane. But two unfortunate parachuters in Essex proved that landing can be just as tricky.

The pair had to be rescued by firefighters as they got stuck on a phone mast when coming in to land.

Essex Fire and Rescue said it helped the pair after they were snared 20 metres in the air close to Halstead, near Braintree.

Firefighers arrived shortly before 6pm on Sunday and had the two daredevils on the ground around an hour and 20 minutes later.

A fire service spokesman said: "Crews used the aerial ladder platform (ALP) to rescue the two parachutists from the mast. They were left in the care of the ambulance service."
