A "potentially armed" man is on the run after a shooting that left one person dead and a second injured.

Charlie Broadway, 23, poses a risk to the public and should not be approached, following the incident on Thursday night, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Detectives said two men were shot at a home near Ilton, north of Ilminster, Somerset, shortly before 8pm.

One died at the scene and a second received "non life-threatening" injuries.

Chief Superintendent Jon Reilly said: "A full investigation is under way into this serious incident involving a firearm which we believe is of a domestic nature.

"We're using all necessary resources to trace 23-year-old Charlie Broadway in connection with these offences.

"Due to the gravity of what happened, Charlie Broadway is potentially armed and as a result poses a risk to the public."

Broadway was missing overnight into Friday morning and police said the situation was "very fluid".

Force incident manager Rob Pearson said: "The bottom line is it is still ongoing. We have not located the man.

"It is a very tricky and dangerous situation.

"There are lots of police officer working now to try and catch him."

He said a team of detectives was working to track down Broadway.
