Prince album makes Top 10 day after untimely death
Prince has jumped into the Top 10 on the Official Albums Chart despite much of his music being unavailable on streaming services.
Two collections have broken the Top 20, with sales counted from the moment news of his untimely death broke on Thursday evening until midnight.
Bumper hits package Ultimate, which originally peaked at number six in 2007, has re-entered the Official Albums Chart at number 10.
The Very Best Of Prince, which hit number two in 2001, is at number 18.
In addition to the greatest hits packages resurfacing, a number of classic Prince tracks hover outside the Official Singles Chart Top 40.
Purple Rain, a 1984 anthem and Oscar-winning song, has made the biggest showing at number 65, while When Doves Cry and Kiss follow further down.
These tracks are expected to climb higher as more fans reconnect with Prince's music in the coming days.
Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot said: "The great shock of last night is already translating into a clear outpouring of respect and love for Prince."
He added: "The rapid impact on the Official Albums Chart - and no doubt the Official Singles Chart next week - underlines just what this extraordinary, iconic artist meant to the Great British public."
Prince is likely to dominate both charts in Monday's Official Chart Update, which assesses sales and streams from Friday and over the weekend.
On the Official Singles Chart, Drake is top of the bops for a second week with One Dance.
The track, featuring Wizkid and Kyla, is the Canadian rapper's first UK chart-topper as lead artist.
It shifted an impressive 115,000 combined chart sales and was the most streamed song of the week, notching up almost 7.08 million plays over the last seven days.
Sia and Sean Paul's Cheap Thrills is a non-mover at number two.
Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Fifth Harmony's Work From Home featuring Ty Dolla Sign hold firm at number three and four respectively.
Tinie Tempah's Girls Like featuring Zara Larsson is up one to number five.
Little Mix and Sean Paul's new version of Hair is in at number 31, and Pink has returned to the Top 40 after almost three years away.
The American's latest track Just Like Fire, from the Alice Through The Looking Glass soundtrack, is new at number 32.
