Supermodel Naomi will have children 'when I'm ready'

Naomi Campbell is keen to become a mother but is keeping her options open about when or how she might do it.

The 45-year-old supermodel believes she is now "more mellow" after a spell in rehab in 1999, her brushes with the law, including assault convictions, and her reputation for perhaps being difficult.

She told the Sunday Times magazine: "Well, I'm not saying I won't have children. I could have children. I just don't know which way I'll have children. But I think I'll have children, everyone thinks I'll be a good mother.

"I've always considered it. I'll just do it when I'm ready. I'm not rushing to anyone's drumbeat, I'm going to my own."

Campbell was raised by her single mother Valerie, who said she would like to be a grandmother but added "I don't want to force" it.

Born in Streatham, south London, and having travelled the world since being discovered while she still a 15-year-old schoolgirl, Campbell is a big name in the fashion and showbusiness worlds.

She was the first black model to appear on the covers of Vogue Paris and British Vogue, and is one of the major supermodels.

She has been romantically linked to musician Adam Clayton, boxer Mike Tyson, actor Robert De Niro, Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin and former Formula One team boss Flavio Briatore but the idea of not having a man around does not seem to scare her.

She told the magazine: "Absolutely. Totally. That's not been a fear of mine. As I said, it's just timing, grounding, foundation.Where are you living? Where are you raising?"
