A woman who was reported to have been abducted has been found safe and unharmed after a major police inquiry.

West Midlands Police confirmed the woman - said by witnesses to have been attacked and forced into a car in Coventry - had voluntarily attended a police station in London late on Saturday.

Detectives launched a large-scale investigation on Friday after the suspected kidnapping in Foleshill Road.

Detective superintendent Maria Fox, from West Midlands force CID, said: "We would like to thank everyone that came forward with information.

"A lot of members of the public who saw what was happening on the street were understandably shocked and they did they right thing by calling us.

"Since the report, officers have worked around the clock to find the woman as her safety was our absolute priority.

"It appears that the woman knew the men and we are satisfied that she is safe and well.

"Enquiries continue to establish if any offences have been committed, which will be dealt with in due course."
