A teenager is believed to have died after falling in to a harbour following New Year celebrations, police said.

CCTV shows a man believed to be Joshua Caley, 19, falling into the sea in Ramsey on the Isle of Man, officers said.

An extensive search involving more than 40 peope was launched on the morning of January 1 after Joshua's parents raised the alarm when he failed to return home from a night out in the town on the island's north east.

An Isle of Man Police spokesman today said it had footage showing a man falling into the harbour shortly after 1am.

He said: "The footage shows a male believed to be Joshua fall into the water near to the Mezeron Shipping company on the East Quay and (he) clearly fails to get back to safety.

"This is undoubtedly a search and recovery operation now given the timescale of the incident and a co-ordinated search will continue today of the surrounding harbour and water areas in conjunction with the Isle of Man Coastguard."
