Appeal after man, 22, shot in Moss Side

A man is in hospital after being shot in the chest in Manchester.

The 22 year old is in a stable condition following the attack, which took place in Salisbury Street, Moss Side, shortly before 8pm on Wednesday.

Greater Manchester Police has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Tony Lea of the force's South Manchester division, said: "The investigation is in the early stages and we are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

"There will be extra patrols in the area to offer some reassurance to the community and if anyone has any concerns, or information they wish to pass on to police, please get in touch as a matter of urgency."
