Pensioner charged with murder of woman shot dead at care home

A pensioner has been charged with the murder of a woman shot dead at a care home.

Ronald King, 86, is accused of killing Rita King, 81, at the De La Mer House in Naze Park Road, Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex Police said.

A post-mortem examination on Tuesday revealed that Mrs King, who is reported to be the accused's wife, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said King, of of Cedar Close, Walton-on-the-Naze, has been remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
