Race attack trial begins for mother and grandmother of murdered Tia Sharp

The mother and grandmother of murdered schoolgirl Tia Sharp are due to stand trial accused of a racially aggravated attack on a woman in a supermarket car park.

Natalie Sharp, 33, and Christine Bicknell, 49, are due to appear at Croydon Crown Court after an incident at a Lidl superstore in Wallington, south London, on April 18.

Sharp, of Canterbury Road, Morden, is charged with racially aggravated common assault.

Bicknell, of Torrington Square, Croydon, is charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

Tia was 12 when she was murdered in New Addington, south-east London, in August 2012. Stuart Hazell was jailed for 38 years for her murder the following May.
