Gloucester man on trial accused of Zac Evans's murder outside Tuffley pub

The trial of a man accused of murdering a teenager in an alleged machete attack will begin today.

Ewen Reynolds, 44, is accused of killing 19-year-old Zac Evans outside the Pike and Musket pub in the Tuffley area of Gloucester in January this year.

He is also charged with the attempted murder of Mr Evans's friend Keaton Jones, 22.

Mr Evans - known to friends and family as Sparky - worked as a painter and decorator.

The motorbike enthusiast left behind his mother Sylvia, father David, twin brother Nathan, brother Stefan and sister Annia, grandparents Malcolm and Dot and girlfriend Beth Hawkins.

Following his death, his mother released a tribute which said: "Zac and his twin brother Nathan were the best of friends and constantly gave us endless laughter, fun and immense pride.

"He was one of the bravest, kindest young people I have ever had the privilege to meet.

"The fact he was our son, was an added bonus. Zac was a truly wonderful son, grandson, boyfriend and friend."

Reynolds, of Foley Close, Tuffley will go on trial at Bristol Crown Court before Mr Justice Warby. The case is expected to last up to two weeks.
