'Selfie queen' Karen Danczuk 'good friends' with estranged MP husband

Updated

Self-proclaimed selfie queen Karen Danczuk says she is at peace with her estranged Labour MP husband Simon Danczuk following their high-profile summer split.

The former Labour councillor, who traded blows through social media and the press after she and the Rochdale MP parted after just two years, has said she may even pose for a selfie with him and wished him luck following reports of him having a new girlfriend.

Karen Danczuk said: "Good on him - he's a single man. Get out there and have fun."

She added: "Seriously good on him yeah. We're really good friends, we've got two boys. When I see him I'll high five him."

Ms Danczuk, who is famed for her hundreds of selfies on Twitter, was launching the first ever Selfie World Championship which is taking place later this month.

She also praised new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn - someone who her husband has criticised.

"I think he ran an excellent campaign. He's engaging with people that were disengaged in the Labour party and that can only be a good thing. He is what he is - a great man," said Ms Danczuk.

The world championships, organised by entertainment and events group Funzing, are due to take place on October 24 and feature 30 selfie-lovers who will take on "selfie challenges".

Karen Danczuk has "no idea" of how many selfies she's taken but it was in the "thousands", she said. "I'm looking forward to it. It is an honour to be a judge - it is really, really good. It's going to be fun."

On advice for the contestants Ms Danczuk said one tip is they shouldn't use filters.

She said: "A selfie is just what it is - a selfie. So you shouldn't mess with anything else."
