Boy arrested over cemetery murder
Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the murder of Carlisle schoolboy Jordan Watson.
Jordan, 14, was found dead in a secluded part of St John the Baptist Church cemetery in Carlisle, Cumbria, by a member of the public on Tuesday morning.
Last night police arrested the 16-year-old and a 19-year-old over the "savage and brutal" killing.
An 18-year-old from who was arrested on Wednesday remains in custody, police said.
Yesterday afternoon, Carlisle Magistrates' Court granted an application to extend the time he can be held by police. They have been given another 36 hours to interview him.
The 18-year-old man is said to have been known to Jordan. All three suspects are from Carlisle.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the teenager, from nearby Ridley Road, died from multiple wounds to the head and neck caused by a sharp implement.
His family has paid tribute to the boy, who they said lived by the motto Yolo - "you only live once".
They said the Liverpool Football Club supporter, who had been a "loving and caring child", "would never walk alone".
In a statement issued by Cumbria Constabulary, the family said: "Jordan wasn't perfect, he was though the most loving and caring child that anyone could meet.
"He had the best sense of humour. Jordan's favourite expression was 'Yolo' - you only live once. Jordan lived by this motto, he had a strong personality and a love of the outdoors. Jordan could not be talked out of doing something he really wanted to do.
"Jordan was very loyal, he stuck up for his brothers and sisters, he was scared of nothing.
"Jordan adored his girlfriend Justine and they spent many happy times together. Jordan loved Liverpool Football Club and, like his favourite team, he will never walk alone.
"Jordan, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers, fly high baby angel. Sleep tight, to us you will always be perfect. Love you always, our sleeping angel."
He was found by a member of the public at 7.46am on Tuesday in the cemetery in Manor Road.
Detective Superintendent Andy Slattery, from Cumbria Police, said: "We remain open-minded and are pursuing various lines of inquiry, so would still like to hear from anyone with information about Jordan's whereabouts leading up to his death.
"We still also want to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area on Monday evening or the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Jordan was last seen at approximately 11pm on Monday by a friend, at an address near the cemetery.
He was wearing a blue and grey hoodie, a black Adidas T-shirt, grey tracksuit bottoms and grey Nike trainers. He was 5ft tall and of slim build, with brown hair.
