The 2012 British motor show has been cancelled, its organisers have said.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) announced today that the show would not go ahead in 2012 as planned following a consultation with the UK motor industry – apparently because they weren't interested.
SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: "In recent years the show has played a less important role in influencing new car buyers and vehicle manufacturers are focusing their limited resources on events and activities that have a more direct impact on brand awareness and consumer decisions"
The show was moved to a biennial format and last took place in 2008, but was cancelled this year due to the economic downturn.
It is not known whether any plans are in place to reinstate the show at a later date.
