The owner of US scooter firm Segway, Yorkshireman Jimi Heselden, died yesterday in a freak accident whilst testing a new all-terrain version of the famous two-wheeler.
Police reported that the 62-year-old's body was found in the river at Boston Spa, near to where he lived. He had apparently skidded off a cliff.
Heselden bought the company in January this year – he had a fortune of around £165m earned through building defence equipment.
He was known as a philanthropist and had recently donated £10m to a local charity in Leeds.
The incident is not believed to be suspicious.
