As expected, the venerable British sportscar maker Morgan unveiled its stunning Eva GT in California this weekend.
The grand tourer is a fresh departure for the brand as it offers genuine four-seater comfort with a two-plus-two layout.
Morgan intended the car to be a practical option for families able to meet the predicted £70,000 to £85,000 asking price.
The Eva GT will go into production at the manufacturer's Malvern-based factory in 2012 after its premiere at the Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach.
The car is based on a modified version of the bonded aluminium chassis which underpins the Aeromax Supersports, but is significantly longer to permit the extra space in the cabin.
The luxury GT car gets BMW's 302bhp twin-turbo straight six and, thanks to its 1,250kg kerbweight, should be capable of 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds.
The engine and platform aren't the car's only modern features either. Multi-stage airbags, sat nav, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes ensure that the Eva GT is truly a Morgan for the 21st century.
