Morgan has released a teaser image of its new four-seater coupe - dubbed the EvaGT.
The venerable British manufacturer says the new car is aimed at young families and takes its inspiration from sports saloons of the early 1950s.
The EvaGT will be unveiled at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California on August 15. The company will take £5,000 deposits on the car, which buys an allocated build slot for a limited production run of just 100 examples.
The four seater coupe is the first model in an ambitious plan to launch a new car every two years. Morgan intends to specifically target the niches it believes it can succeed in, such as the electric sports car.
Built on a modified version of the same bonded aluminium chassis that the Aero SuperSports uses, the EvaGT will be powered by a 306bhp 3.0-litre straight-six BMW engine mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Thanks to its projected 1,250kg kerbweight the rear-wheel drive coupe should be capable of 0-60mph in around 4.5secs and top out at 170mph.
Morgan plans to begin production of the new car by mid 2012.
