Video: Homemade electric Beetle crushes Tesla Roadster in drag race

We'd be lying it we said we didn't hate the Volkswagen Beetle, but as far as examples of Hitler's car for the people goes, this has got to be our favourite.

Nicknamed 'Black Current', the Beetle in this amateur video was taking part in an "Alternative Energy Racing" event at Santa Pod, the home of UK drag racing.

According to automotive blogsite, Carscoop, the homemade car employs 60 12-volt batteries and a Gearvendor over/under drive unit. We've no idea what that is, but apparently it delivers 1200lb ft of torque in the blink of an eye.

That's sufficient for the Black Current to utterly destroy Elon Musk's laptop battery on wheels - the Tesla.
