Great Wall to arrive in UK in 2011

Updated

Chinese carmaker Great Wall has done a deal with IM Group, the company that currently imports Subaru, Daihatsu and Isuzu's, to sell its cars in the UK from 2011.

The IM Group will begin to sell the cars in Estonia, Latvia and Lituania from 2010, before launching them in the UK and Ireland the following year.

IM Group should be well placed to import Great Wall cars, thanks to its experience in the UK and Asian markets. Because of the success of its current imports, it will also mean that the group isn't soley reliant on the success of Great Wall cars.

A statement from IM group read: "The Great Wall Motor Company has designed and built all of the European-bound models specifically to meet EU whole-vehicle type approval standards. This will ensure that Great Wall models deliver high standards of crash-worthiness, equal to those of modern European and Japanese vehicles"
