Andy Murray may have missed out on the £2.2 million winner's jackpot at Wimbledon, but the Scot has made a big windfall off the court after the sale of his luxury apartment in Miami.

Murray's bid to defend his title in SW19 was ended in the quarter finals by Sam Querrey , after a hip injury hampered the world number one throughout the event.

The setback has left his participation in the US Open later this month in doubt, but he's clearly been putting his time during the enforced layoff to good use.

Andy Murray made a handsome profit

After buying the apartment in 2008, the three-time grand slam champion has sold it on nine years later for £1.8 million, which earned him a nice profit the equivalent of £600,000.

There's plenty for the new owners to like about the plush penthouse, which boasts picturesque sea views that can be enjoyed from a balcony.

Also on offer are four luxury bedrooms with king size beds, while Murray had a games room set up including a pool table for when he wasn't crushing forehands and backhands on a tennis court.

Murray has previously been based in Miami during the off season, as he looks to get himself into top physical shape ahead of the start of the new year.

If he's to remain based there during the winter he'll have to look for somewhere else to stay come this November though after parting with the swanky pad.
