Why you should order the wine you've never heard of

You'll save a lot of money ordering wines you never heard of at a restaurant.

People are more likely to order wines they are familiar with.

Restaurants know that and will take advantage of that.

How? By overpricing them!

Some of the most commonly known wines are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

But those wines are way overpriced!

Bianca Basker from Cork Dork said: "Savvy beverage directors levied a 'gimme tax' on glasses of brand-name grapes like Chardonnay and Malbec."

"They could charge more because most drinkers see a familiar grape, go on autopilot, and think, 'Give it to me; I don't care what it costs.'

To avoid overpaying you should try ordering a wine that you're unfamiliar with at a nice restaurant.

For example you could try the Crémant d'Alsace, Tintilla, or Côte-Rôtie or you could go for any other wines you may not be able to pronounce!
