Workplace compensation fraud attempt caught on CCTV

The footage shows Sheyla White inflicting the injury upon herself

An office worker was caught on camera smashing a sprinkler nozzle into her head after it fell from the ceiling onto her desk.

Sheyla White was working for Cinque Terre Energy Partners when the attempted to claim compensation for a workplace injury.

Suspecting something was untoward with her claim, the Florida Department of Financial Services began investigating the claim, reports Mercury News.

They then found footage of White, from Fort Lauderdale, inflicting the injury upon herself.

The CCTV clip shows White working at her desk before a sprinkler nozzle falls from the ceiling onto her desk.

White attempted to claim compensation for her fake workplace injury

Completely missing her head, White then grabs the nozzle before taking a moment to think about her next move.

She is then filmed smashing it into her head, before being taken slightly aback by the impact of the knock.

White is then seen cupping the wound on her forehead.

She was convicted of fraud and sentenced to 18 months on probation.

A press release from the investigating agency says White had previously served six months' house arrest for stealing students' personal identification information while working as a teacher at a high school in 2010.
