Shocking 'per day' cost of brief celebrity marriages

Celebrity weddings are known for being opulent and expensive affairs. Clearly it's not going to cut the mustard uses you invite hundreds of people to a glamorous venue, and spend the sort of money on a dress that we would normally only expect to fork out for a car. Unfortunately celebrity weddings are also famously often rather short-lived. It means that when you divide the cost of the wedding by the length of the marriage, a number of them cost an astonishing sum on a 'per day' basis. A new study has revealed some of the most jaw dropping.

The study by Bidvine looked at some of the shortest celebrity marriages. They then examined the cost of the wedding involved, and used that to calculate a per-day cost of the wedding. The top ten features all the favourites you would expect, from Zsa Zsa Gabor to Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian.

1. Zsa Zsa Gabor & Felipe De Alba: Married for one day costing £30,000
Gabor's marriage to the Mexican actor was annulled, because her previous divorce from Michael O'Hara hadn't been finalised. The fact that it only lasted a day means that at least they got to enjoy spending £30,000 together.

2. Britney Spears & Jason Alexander: Married for two days costing £335 per day
This Vegas wedding was hardly the most expensive one. The friends were on holiday when they decided to get married on the spur of the moment. The marriage lasted 55 hours.

3. Eddie Murphy & Tracey Edmonds: Married for 14 days costing £28,575 per day
In fact this wasn't a legally binding wedding. It was a ceremony on a French Polynesian island that was intended to be followed by a civil ceremony in the US. Unfortunately the couple fell out while they were away, and went their separate ways before they made it to a second ceremony.

4. Ali Landry & Mario Lopez: Married for 14 Days costing £8,571 per day
Apparently things fell apart after Lopez admitted to his actress/model wife that his stag party had got somewhat out of hand. During the row that broke out over his infidelity, he admitted he wasn't ready for marriage - just two weeks after tying the knot.

5. Chris Kattan & Sunshine Tutt: Married for 59 days costing £8,474 per day
The comic actor and model split after two months of marriage. The pair had got engaged after a whirlwind romance - and split after an equally whirlwind marriage.

6. Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries: Married for 72 Days costing £109,722 per day
This takes the title for the most expensive marriage per-day, because of the incredibly over-the-top wedding. It was even filmed for a two-part, four-hour TV show. In the end, the divorce process lasted longer than the marriage.

7. Nicky Hilton & Todd Andrew Meister: Married for 85 days costing £5.80 per day
Paris's sister had a low key Las Vegas wedding the first time around, so the per-day cost is relatively low. The second around time, 11 years later, she pulled out all the stops - marrying in the Kensington Palace orangery.

8. Ethel Merman & Ernest Borgnine: Married for 144 days costing £138.89 per day
The Hollywood stars married in the 1960s, but it all started to fall apart during the honeymoon. Borgnine has claimed it was because he was more famous than she was overseas, and she wasn't impressed.

9. Pamela Anderson & Rick Salomon: Married for 170 days costing £752.90 per day
The couple didn't learn from the experience of their short marriage. They got married again years later - and were subsequently divorced again.

10. Pamela Anderson & Kid Rock: Married for 182 days costing £440 per day
It's impressive that Anderson makes two appearances on this list, with similarly short marriages. She could at least console herself with the fact that her wedding to Kid Rock had been cheaper.
