A woman from New York is suing Zara after she allegedly found a dead rat sewn into a dress she bought in the store.

Cailey Fiesel, 24, noticed a 'disturbingly pungent odor' when she wore the dress, yet she couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Later that day she noticed a loose string rubbing against her leg and when she went to pull it she noticed a bulge in the dress.

Finally realizing it wasn't a string, it was the leg of a dead mouse.

The court papers state: "To her utter shock and disbelief, as she ran her hand over the hem of the dress she felt and unusual bulge and suddenly realised that it was not a string that was rubbing against her leg but was instead a leg rubbing against her leg. The leg of a dead rodent that is."

She has since filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court saying she suffered emotional distress and was diagnosed with a rodent born disease.

Another extract from the court documents states: "As a direct and proximate result of the use of the dress, plaintiff has suffered, and continues to suffer damages, personal injury and emotional distress."

Zara, who faces charges of negligence and personal injury, is now investigating the incident.

A representative for Zara USA told TMZ: "Zara USA is aware of the suit, and we are investigating the matter further. Zara USA has stringent healthy and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet those rigorous requirements."
