Three lucky Lotto players each scoop £8m

Updated

Three Lotto players scooped £8.1 million each in Wednesday's draw, even though they did not match all six numbers.

The lucky trio matched five of the balls and the bonus and the £24.5 million jackpot was "rolled down" and shared between them, Camelot said.

The winning numbers were 42, 58, 16, 35, 23, 44 and the bonus number 28.

Set of balls number three was used in draw machine Merlin.

Andy Carter, Camelot senior winners' advisor, said: "No-one matched all six numbers, so the amazing £24.5 million Lotto jackpot rolled down to be shared by three players, each matching five main numbers plus the bonus ball, each winning a life-changing £8.1 million each.

"That's on top of the guaranteed £1 million raffle prize winner, in every Lotto draw. We urge players to check their tickets so they can begin to enjoy their win as soon as possible."

There were 51 ticketholders who matched five of the six balls without the bonus to win £1,350 each.

The 3,930 players who matched four of six balls won £113 each.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday's draw is £3.6 million.
