People in the north-west are being urged to check their lottery tickets after a £1 million prize went unclaimed last month.

For every set of Lotto numbers chosen, the player automatically receives a Lotto Millionaire Raffle code printed on their ticket.

But one winner, who bought a ticket in the Cheshire West and Chester area, has failed to come forward with the winning code of BLUE 3290 4318.

"We're eager to find the mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody's life," says a National Lottery spokesperson.

"We're urging everyone who bought a Lotto ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding."

The lucky ticket-holder has until January 19, 2017, to claim the prize. If no-one comes forward, the money - plus any interest - will be put towards National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

If it's you, you should call the National Lottery Line on 0844 338 7551 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk.

"Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa – someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune!" says the National Lottery spokesperson.

"We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win."

This latest ticket is just one of several big prizes to go unclaimed in the last few months. On July 20th, for example, somebody in Rotherham matched five numbers plus the Powerball to win £500,000 - but has yet to come forward.

On the same day, a £1 million Millionaire Raffle ticket with the code JADE 0553 5870 was drawn, whose owner still hasn't come forward.

There's also a winning Lotto ticket bought on the Isle of Wight and drawn in February whose winner has yet to come forward - but they'll have to be quick. Whoever's holding the ticket with the Lotto Millionaire Raffle code NAVY 3917 5002 has just one more week in which they can claim.

Earlier this year, one lucky winner put in a successful claim just three days before the deadline, winning a life-changing £4.6 million.
