Women 'silenced in economy discussion'

Updated

Most newspaper articles on the economy are biased towards men, with few women being given the chance to comment, according to a new study.

The Fawcett Society said more women should have their voices heard in the media's coverage of the economy.

The group researched more than 600 articles on the economy in national newspapers, finding 80% of quotes were from men.

Chief executive Sam Smethers said: "Women are being silenced and sidelined on the economy."
