A cheating husband returned from a business trip to discover that his wife had discovered his affair - and sold their house while he was gone.

Craig Arnolds, 44, arrived back from one of his frequent trips to New York to find that the locks had been changed and six students were inside his Nuneaton home. His wife Laura, 42, had discovered the affair, and decided to take an unusual revenge.

Shortly before Craig's business trip, Laura found a voicemail message on his phone from an American woman, in which she described the steamy reception he could expect when he arrived.

Furious, she put the house on the market in secret, and sold it within two weeks to a landlord who filled it with students from the University of Warwick.

She was able to sell the house without Craig's knowledge as the mortgage was in her parents' name.

Craig told agent Fast Sale Today that he was bewildered to arrive back home and discover an unfamiliar car on the drive.

"All the lights were on and the TV was blaring - I remember thinking it was really out of character for Laura to be up past 11pm. I had no idea what on earth was going on," he says.

"At this point I was seriously freaked out, jet-lagged and frantic - I started banging on the door and shouting Laura's name – but was greeted instead by what looked like a 21-year-old hippie."

Craig's now living in London - and hoping things settle down and become a bit more amicable.

The moral of the story is to treat your spouse with respect - as this is by no means the first time a scorned partner has taken dramatic revenge.

A couple of months ago, for example, a woman took out an ad on a Sheffield bill-board to dump her cheating husband on his way to work.

Around the same time, a US woman sold off her boyfriend's prized Batmobile - registered in her name, as she'd bought it for him as a present.

Most famously of all, Lady Sarah Graham Moon cut the arms off her husband's Savile Row suits, poured paint on his BMW, and left his vintage wine collection on the neighbours' doorsteps after he left her and moved in with his girlfriend.
