Johnny Depp has put his expansive French holiday home on the market for a cool £16.5m.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor bought the large estate in 2001 with this former partner, French actress and singer, Vanessa Paradis.

But this isn't just a quaint little holiday home with a olive tree in the garden and deckchairs on the veranda: Depp's estate covers around 37 acres and even includes a small, private village.

According to Sotheby's International Realty, this includes more than a dozen buildings, a main house, guest cottages, a chapel, a bar and restaurant, a workshop and a staff house.

The house can be found around 25km north of popular holiday destination St Tropez in the village of Le Plan de la Tour.

The estate is at least 200 years old and the famous actor has dedicated much of his time to renovating and adapting the buildings himself, with his individual character clear throughout.

Each of the houses in the small village has been personally decorated by the American actor who is now married to American actress and model, Amber Heard.

The celebrity couple hit the headlines recently when they illegally took their dogs to Australia.

Speaking about the sale of the estate, Alexander Kraft of Sotheby's said: "The renovation of the estate has really been a true labour of love for Johnny. Over several years, he painstakingly restored and decorated all the houses of the village one by one, bringing his very personal touch to the project and creating a property of exceptional character."
