Black Friday Sales - where can you find the best deals?

Black Friday was an unknown quantity in 2010 when Amazon first decided to bring it to the UK. Fast forward four years, and it has become a UK phenomenon, with everyone from Tesco and Asda to John Lewis and Argos joining the party. We reveal 20 of the biggest sales on offer.

1. Amazon.co.uk
The online retailer is making the most of Black Friday, by releasing new deals on the site every ten minutes all week. Each deal has a limited number of products on offer, and will run for a couple of hours or until the products run out.

The savings range from 20% to more than 70%, and because some pricey gadgets are included in the deal, you can easily save the best part of £100. The deals cover the full range of products from DVDs to kitchen utensils and clothes to computers, but there's a real strength in electronics and gadgets, so its worth bookmarking the page and popping back whenever you have time.

2. Asda
Discounts will be available in store from 8am on Friday morning, and there will be savings on a total of 700,000 items. The deals will also run into Saturday (if there are any bargains left) and special offers announced so far include a Polaroid 40 inch TV for £139, an Xbox 360 console with two games for £99, and Beats headphones for £79.

There's a dedicated web page that will reveal new deals closer to the start of the sale - it also features a store locator so you can find a store involved in the sale.

3. Tesco
Tesco hasn't been a big Black Friday player so far, but plans to change all that this year by offering more deals than it does during the Boxing Day Sales.

Deals will apply across five departments: electronics, entertainment, mobile, toys and DIY, and while specific offers haven't been announced, there will be 70% off a coffee machine, and 50% off an HDTV. It has also developed a dedicated web page where you can find your nearest participating store.

However, while the stores will open at their usual time on Friday, the deals will go online at one minute past midnight for you to click and collect, so if you want to be first to the savings, it's worth setting your alarm clock.

4. Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's is joining the fun for the first time, offering deals in 485 stores. There will be discounts on 13 lines, including TVs, tablets, audio and kitchenware. Among some of the savings advertised already is a Dyson DC24 Animal vacuum at £159.99 (half price).

In those stores that open for 24 hours, the deals will be unveiled at 1am - so it could be worth staying up to enjoy the fun - although you won't be allowed to buy more than one of any item so don't get carried away. The other stores will open at normal time and offer deals until they run out.

5. Game
Game is entering into the spirit of the day by opening at one minute to midnight tonight, so you can experience the weirdness of dashing round the store in the middle of the night in pursuit of savings. If you'd prefer to stay at home, it has a dedicated web page, where from 6pm this evening it will be announcing new deals every hour - which can be purchased immediately. In the interim, to keep you going, there are a series of deals lasting four hours each to take advantage of.

6. John Lewis
The department store will open early - at 8am, and is majoring on electricals. There are no details of deals available, so you'll need to draw up a wish list and hope for the best. John Lewis has also been busy matching competitor deals all week, so is a great place for a bargain on Black Friday, when it will be matching other deals on the high street.

7. Argos
The deals start at midnight tonight and run across the toys, technology and TV departments. You can reserve your items online, and you can go along to a store as soon as it opens to collect it. However, it's worth putting aside a fair chunk of time to wait in line for someone to fetch it from the warehouse.

8. Marks & Spencer
Deals won't be announced until midnight tonight, but at that point they'll be live on the website. When stores open they'll have more than 50 offers available with up to 30% off, but it's worth bearing in mind that some stores are extending their opening hours to cope with the rush, so you may need to check when your local M&S will open.

9. House of Fraser
The department store is already running a sale, with up to 30% off in some departments. On Friday it's going to take this to another level, with bigger discounts in more departments. However, it isn't releasing any details before the event. The website promises to have all the deals tomorrow, or you can go along to your nearest store ready for its usual opening time.

10. B&Q
The DIY superstore will be offering a number of huge discounts in store tomorrow. Some of the savings announced so far include a half price Bosch pressure washer for £72, a Makita battery drill down from £102 to £72, and a half price Karcher window vac for £50. As part of the promotion it already has some deals online, including a sink down from £78 to £45 and an artificial tree reduced from £52 to £25.

11. Boots
Boots already has its famous '3 for 2' deal running at the moment, but on Friday it will launch four days of savings and 'more deals than ever before'. Stores will open at their usual time, and there are no details as yet as to what kinds of offers will be available, but it's well worth a trip on the grounds that if all else fails you can pick up a couple of '3 for 2' bargains.

12. Currys PC World
The retailer has already started offering 'Black Tag' deals, which include an LG Smart 42 inch TV reduced from £479 to £279. It will kick off more deals at 8am on Friday. However, if you're keen, it might make sense to go to a store rather than try and buy online as it has not been wholly reliable during this event.

13. Carphone Warehouse
From 8am stores will offer deals of up to £200 off, which will run until the end of the weekend (while stocks last). The same deals will go live on the website at the same time. Details of the deals haven't been released, but we are told they will appear on the website, so it's worth checking closer to the time.

14. Very
The fashion brand launches its sale at 7am tomorrow, and claims to be offering 'some of the best deals around'. You can get a head start by signing up for an email to let you know details of the deals when the sale is underway.

15. Halfords
Halfords will be offering deals on bikes, sat navs, tools, and in-car DVD players. Among the biggest bargains is a 200 piece socket and spanner set reduced from £300 to £125 and an Apollo Cherry Lane Girls Bike reduced from £179.99 to £63.

16. Selfridges
The Selfridges deal has started already. It isn't branded as a Black Friday event, but never-the-less it is offering 20% off in many departments (and 10% in others) with the code SELF14. You can apply the discount when you shop online, or print off a voucher to use in store.

17. Topshop
The Topshop deals are already available online, and will run until Monday. There's up to 50% off some items, and the range is available to browse on the website.

18. Toys R Us
Deals are yet to be revealed, but the toy shop has said it will run the sale online and in stores from their usual opening time. In the US it goes crazy, with limited time deals and up to 70% off. There's no guarantee it will embrace the event as wholeheartedly in the UK, but it's worth checking if you have lots of expensive children to shop for this Christmas.

19. Debenhams
The store isn't giving much away about its deals, and just has a banner on its website saying it will be offering them online. It's impossible to guess what will be on offer, and how good the savings will be, so it may not be worth wasting your queuing time to be first through the door. This might be one to pop to on the off chance, after you've queued elsewhere.

20. ASOS
The online fashion brand is advertising that it's taking part in Black Friday, and deals will go live tomorrow. It also points out that its outlet section offers 70% off if you can't wait until tomorrow.

All of this is in addition to the numerous independent stores online and on the high street offering deals. If you have a specific retailer in mind, it's definitely worth checking their website or calling in to see if they are participating.
