Double value of your Nectar points at Sainsbury's

Between 19th and 25th November your Nectar points could be worth twice as much at Sainsbury's.

With the Double Up scheme, you can double your points when exchanging them for vouchers. However these vouchers can only be used in certain categories.

These include:

  • Tu Clothing

  • Homeware

  • Toys

  • Electricals

  • Entertainment

  • Cards, gift wrap, decorations and gifting (impeccable timing)

  • Still, sparkling and fortified wine from Taste the Difference.

A full list of what is and isn't included is in the scheme is available on the Double Up section of the Nectar website.

How it works

The concept really is as simple as it sounds.

Points are accepted in four denominations: 1,000 points, 2,000 points, 3,000 points and 4,000 points. Normally you'd need 2,000 points to get a £10 voucher, but for this week you only need 1,000 points.

All you have to do is choose your category from the list above and go to the customer service desk to exchange your points for Double Up vouchers. Unfortunately, you can't do the exchange online, in Sainsbury's locals or in petrol stations.

Then you redeem your voucher in your chosen category. Get in there quickly though as vouchers must be used by 25th November.

Everyday ways to boost Nectar card points

The easy way to boost your Nectar balance is to do your food shopping at Sainsbury's. You'll get two points for every £1 spent at Sainsbury's and on its website. You can also collect one point per litre of fuel bought at Sainsbury's petrol stations.

There are plenty of other retailers and suppliers that are part of the Nectar scheme, so every time you spend with them you can boost your balance too. These include Homebase, British Gas and BP. And don't forget the Nectar eShops - spend with one of the 500 brands taking part (including Gap, Currys and Next) and you pick up points on your shopping.

You can get even more points, no matter where you spend your money, with one of the various Nectar-affiliated credit cards. For example, with the Sainsbury's Nectar Purchase Credit Card you earn an additional two points for every £1 spent at Sainsbury's and one point for every £5 spent elsewhere. You also benefit from 0% interest on purchases for a whopping 18 months.

Alternatively the American Express Nectar credit card will dish out 20,000 bonus points if you spend £2,000 in the first three months of your card account opening. After that you earn two points for every £1 spent, or up to four points per £1 when you shop with Nectar partners. The card is fee free for the first year too.
