Christmas shopping and freebies

The great Christmas spending season is upon us. Whether you buy the first presents, stock up the cupboards with Christmas food, or spend a small fortune booking days out, November is when the festive pain first starts to hit. Fortunately we have some freebies to make things more comfortable - from free lunch, to a free day out, some free Christmas presents and even preparing your car for the winter without breaking the bank.

Free soup

The users of HotUkdeals.com have discovered that Greggs is offering free soup to everyone who has signed up for the rewards account. It's designed so that you download the app onto your smart phone, then load the account with cash (either through your phone or by logging in on your computer), then you can pay by phone when you're in any Greggs store.

However, you don't need to load any cash onto the account to get your freebie. By signing up before 5 December, you'll get a code for a free soup. You can choose between a Christmas Lunch soup or a tomato soup (although some stores will offer one or the other).

Free horse racing

The Aintree Becher Chase Day on 6 December will be free for everyone in the general stands this year. The race takes place over the same fences as the Grand National, and is known for being somewhere to see future winners.

However, to get in for free you need to get your ticket from the website. You can get up to four at a time, but you need to sign up before 5pm on Monday 1 December - and it's probably worth getting them before then in case they run out.

Freebies from The Body Shop

When you shop online at the Body Shop by 9am on Tuesday 11 November, you can take advantage of the 'buy two get two free' offer by entering the code B2D2FREE at the checkout.

The cheapest two are free, so you need to be careful how you mix and match. You'll also need to pay £2.99 for delivery, so this deal is only worth it if you want to buy from the more expensive end of the range. If, for example, you were to buy four of the £16 foundations, that's an impressive saving of £29.01 even after delivery.

Free winter car check

Halfords is offering free winter car checks. You don't need to buy anything, just pop into Halfords or a Halfords Autocentre and ask for a free winter car check before 31 January next year. They'll check all sorts of things from the battery to the wiper blades, oil levels and lights. As part of the deal they will top up your screen wash too. This service usually costs £15.

Free tooth fairy film

The users of Hotukdeals.com have discovered that Bupa offers a free personalised tooth fairy film for children. You can upload a picture of your child and their name, and you get a lovely little animated film about the tooth fairy and what actually happens to your tooth after she collects it.
