Harvest Sting's grapes for £200

Sting has made an unusual offer to his fans. For just €262 a day (which is just over £200), fans can visit his Tuscan estate and work as labourers, to help him harvest grapes and olives. Just to be clear - you'll be paying him over £200 a day for the opportunity to work for him.

It sounds improbable, but according to the Telegraph, he's selling this as an opportunity to experience the: "adventure and excitement of being part of the annual vendemmia, the traditional October grape and November olive harvests respected by generations of Tuscan farmers." For those people who might otherwise book a donkey trek or a vineyard tour, is something out-of-the-ordinary to boast about when you get back from your annual holiday.

Explore his estate
Of course, for fans, this is also an opportunity to get onto Sting and Trudy Styler's estate for a nose around. He bought the 16th century estate near Florence in 1999 and has been working to turn it into a profitable producer of honey, olive oil, wine, vegetables and salami. It has also been a summer retreat for Sting and his family and friends for the last 15 years, so there's a chance to see a place where he spends a significant portion of his year.

The grounds are pretty impressive too. The house sits at the end of a long, steep drive, overlooking the Tuscan hills. There are impressive gardens with a cool loggia, swimming pool, tennis court, and swimming lake. The house and the grounds have been completely restored by the couple, so everything is exactly to their taste. If you're a super-fan, this is a chance to see what Sting really likes.

Holiday rentals
It's not the only way to get a foot in the door. He also rents out three houses in the grounds, two large villas nearby, and parts of the estate for weddings. However, if you wanted to get married there it would set you back just over £5,500 just for the venue rental - with all the catering, flowers and wedding paraphernalia on top. If you fancied renting a holiday villa, you'd have to fork out at least £3,000 a week for the smallest and most distant of the villas - at the lowest season.

Joining the harvest is the cheapest way for fans to get close to the property. But is it worth it?

If you want the chance to join the annual harvest, there are plenty of Italian and French farmers offering free accommodation and food in return for long hours working in olive groves and vineyards - without you having to pay them for the opportunity

And if you're just after a slice of celebrity life, as we reported last month, you can rent out Kirstie Allsop's 'Handmade Home' in Devon for £3,402 -with space for 13 of your friends. That works out at £243 each for a week in the property - only marginally more expensive than the chance to spend a day working for Sting.
