The eco home: Could you live in a house like this?

Environmentally friendly living

Not all properties are the same. In fact, many of the flats and houses coming up for sale in the UK every week are downright bizarre.

That doesn't mean they won't make beautiful, happy homes, though. This week, we zero in on an eye-catching eco property in an award-winning green development in Langport, Somerset.

This three-bedroom eco home has a variety of environmentally friendly features, including a lightweight timber frame and a solar powered water heating system.

Flooded with natural light, the property was built using timber from sustainable and local sources and is equipped with "A" rated electrical appliances and insulated with recycled newspaper.

The property comprises a spacious lounge with an open plan dining area and a separate kitchen, as well as three bedrooms, one with a balcony and a bathroom.

There is also an office space, as well as a downstairs toilet and utility room.

Pros and cons
This is a modern property that should prove extremely economical to live in.

According to the current owner, the average annual utilities bill is just £300 - £200 for electricity and £100 for gas. The unusual style will not be for everyone, though.
