Starbucks has reported its first ever fall in sales in the UK, following a year in which customers boycotted the coffee chain over its tax avoidance methods.

Annual sales for the year were below £400 million, compared with £413 million for the year before. As in so many previous years, the company posted a pre-tax loss, amounting to £20.4 million.
