Argos recalls Sleep Secret mattresses over fire risk

Updated:

Argos has issued a recall on a range of Sleep Secret mattresses because they fail to comply with fire regulations.

It was identified that the mattresses failed to comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) regulations 1988 so may pose a greater risk than a fully compliant mattress in the event of a fire.

Although the mattress poses a low risk in everyday use as long as normal sensible precautions for fire safety are taken, the product had to be recalled as a precaution and to ensure customer safety.

What to do if you own a Sleep Secret mattress
To find out if your mattress is affected check the batch code. The batch code is four digits long and can be found on the care label on the underneath of the mattress - at the top of the mattress, in the centre. There are 37 batches affected including batch numbers starting 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, and 71.

For a list of batch numbers for recalled products visit the Sleep Secrets Recall Statement page.

If you think you own one of these mattresses you should contact Argos' customer services team on 0845 6400800 and identify whether your product is affected by this recall by stating the batch code.

If your mattress has to be recalled, you can continue using it while Argos arranges for it to be replaced.

Argos warns owners to take precautions and avoid placing candles, lit cigarettes and naked flames close to the mattress.

The Sleep Secrets website has prepared a list of frequently asked questions for customers who have any concerns about their mattress.
